Monday Morning Alka-Seltzer - July 2014

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Why doesn’t God eliminate evil in our world?

The answer, it seems to me, is that God created and endowed us with intellect and will so that we might choose to love Him. To eliminate human evil God would have to eliminate who and what we are.

All lovers want to be known and loved by those whom they love. God wants to be freely chosen and this means He must suffer rejection and its consequences. Isn’t that what Jesus Christ hanging on the Cross is all about?

“Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”  Winston Churchill

Come sit beside me on the ocean shore

watching the waves roll in

bringing us the limitless waters

of God’s gifts’

washing in to reach us,

while erasing the gritty sands

that cling to us

as the gentle breath of His Spirit’s  soft breezes

whisper in our hearts

of His love.

Let us feel the healing warmth of His Son

holding us close,

bringing life, light, and love

into our weary souls...

in miracle

of His summertime.
